How to choose the bead size of a Panchamukhi Mala (varies between 5 mm to 8 mm)?
They are of the same quality; it is just that it's a question of convenience. The smaller ones cost more simply because the rudraksha is not plucked from a tree, they wait for it to fall down, fully ripe and fall down. So, it is much harder to pick up the smaller beads in the mountain so they cost more; otherwise they're about the same
What are the benefits of each type of Rudraksha?
Rudraksha offered by us are carefully selected, checked for quality and consecrated. The benefits of each type are mentioned below:
- Panchamukhi: These are five-faced Rudraksha which can be worn by anyone above 14 years of age. It helps cultivate inner freedom and purity.
- Dwimukhi: These are two-faced Rudraksha intended for married persons. It is supportive for marital relationships and should be worn by both husband and wife.
- Shanmukhi: These are six-faced Rudraksha intended for children below 14 years of age. It aids in proper physical and mental development.
- Gowri Shankar: These are beads which look like two beads fused together and can be worn by anyone above 14 years of age. It aids in prosperity and balancing of Ida and Pingala Nadis (energy channels) and activates the seven chakras.
Rudraksha need to be purified and energized before they are worn. This is done by chanting of Rudrabhishek and Pran-pratishtha mantras and washing the beads and offering incense, sandal paste and other offerings.
Common mantra for all mukhi is “Om Namah Shivaya”
Rudraksha can be taken off neck and worn again anytime while chanting these mantras a minimum of 5 times.
Rudraksha can be worn by all (Men, Women & Children) on a regular basis. There is no taboo while wearing Rudraksha. The mala should be taken off during sex, bowel movements, going to funeral grounds and menstrual cycle. The mala can also be taken off while taking bath as regular soap and water can dehydrate the beads orwhile taking bath

It is hence recommended to take off the mala at night and wear it in the morning after a bath, while chanting "Om NamahShivay" mantra.
The beads should be kept clean and free from deposits of sweat and talcIf the beads need cleaning after regular wear, they should be dipped inwarm water overnight. Then they should be scrubbed thoroughly using a plastic brush. Lastly, they should be washed with normal water and should be allowed to dry. After the beads have dried any vegetable oil has to be applied on the beads (using a small toothbrush). Thereafter Incense and sandal paste has to be offered and the seed mantra for the Rudraksha beads has to chanted. Once in 3 or 4 months little camphor powder has to be applied over the beads. It will help keep insects away.
Rudraksha are very strong beads and have a life span of hundreds of years and if maintained properly and can be handed over through generations.
Ancient vedas style of using rudraksha for different diseases and even Modern science has shown that the electromagnetic nature of rudraksha beads affect our neurophysiology in a specific manner that allows control of heart beat, blood pressure, stress levels, hypertension and at the same time relieves anxiety, depression and neurotic conditions. Rudraksha is regarded as medicine in Ayurveda. It is warm and humid in temperament; some persons regard it cold also. It tastes bitter. It is used not only to wear on different parts of the body, but it can also be used as oral medicine and for besmearing externally. Many doctors, Vaidyas, scientists and ascetics use it.
It is the destroyer of worms and it gives brilliancy to the body. It pacifies Vaat (air), Pitta (bile) and cough automatically. It is also useful for women during pregnancy. Rudraksha is a good medicine for skin diseases. In leprosy of both the kinds it can be used. It acts as a medicine to cure sores, ringworms, pimples, boils, and it is useful in burns also.
Rudraksha is most useful for the patients with blood pressure problems. It does not let it go up or down. It keeps the B. P. normal. For this, Rudraksha Mala should be worn so close that it should touch the heart. It will ensure that its wearer will not fall prey to a sudden heart attack, shrinking of heart or brain hemorrhage. The patient with blood pressure problems should keep the five faced Rudraksha in water filled in a glass vessel throughout the night, and should drink the water as soon as he gets up in the morning. By doing so the person would have normal blood pressure.
A rudraksha can be used for the treatment of suffering from cancer and AIDS. Rudraksha beads, used for the treatment can be done externally by wearing it and internally by drinking milk of rudraksha beads boiled in it and taking the finest dust of rudraksha mixed with water and different mukhi dust are use for different diseases.
